Connor Zemke
Audio Engineer & Composer
Changing Faces serves as the creative studio and professional umbrella for Connor Zemke. Connor Zemke is a Chicago-based composer, producer, and audio engineer originally from Minnesota. His work draws from electronic music, rock, hip-hop, experimental pop, film music, and contemporary composition, bringing together detailed production with a strong focus on melody, texture, arrangement, and emotion. Connor earned his BFA in Music Composition and Technology from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee’s Peck School of the Arts. While studying there, he composed acoustic and electronic music for live performance, dance, video games, visual media, and other collaborative projects. His background as a composer continues to shape how he approaches every project, whether he is writing an original piece, developing an instrumental for an artist, producing a song, or helping strengthen the structure and direction of existing material.
After college, Connor continued developing his recording and engineering experience through both studio and live music work. He interned at Rax Trax Recording in Chicago, where he assisted with professional recording sessions and learned from experienced engineers during the tracking, mixing, and mastering process. The experience gave him a deeper understanding of studio workflow, microphone technique, signal flow, session preparation, and the creative decisions that go into producing a finished record. Connor also worked with Down on Downer, a local Milwaukee music venue that developed Downpour, a live performance series that grew into a collection of live-album-style releases based around the performances he mixed and mastered. As the primary mixing and mastering engineer for the series, he worked to preserve the personality and energy of each live performance while giving the recordings the clarity, balance, and impact of a finished release. The project allowed him to combine his love of live music with his interests in production, recording, mixing, and mastering.
Changing Faces serves as the home for Connor’s work across composition, production, recording, mixing, mastering, and other creative audio projects. Whether he is composing a new piece, writing music for an artist or visual project, engineering a recording session, or finishing a mix, he approaches every project with care, collaboration, attention to detail, and a commitment to creating work that is both technically strong and musically meaningful.
